comes from.
Public records provide a starting point for a battery plan. Bills, interval readings, engineering, and a site review determine the project.
Utility service areas
HIFLD utility territories and EIA Form 861
A spatial match suggests a serving utility. Overlapping territories and changes require confirmation against your bill.
Electricity rates
EIA state averages and OpenEI Utility Rate Database
A state average is not your tariff. A listed schedule is a candidate until service class, load and current utility terms are verified.
Building geometry
The polygon may contain the address or be a nearby match. Floor area uses recorded or assumed levels. Confirm both the building and its size.
Power plants and generation
Installed plant capacity is context. It does not show the power serving your specific building or prove battery savings.
Grid infrastructure
HIFLD transmission and substation records
Map geometry is approximate and may be older than other records. It is not suitable for engineering or determining available connection capacity.
Reliability
EIA Form 861 and DOE outage records
Utility averages and historical events do not predict an outage at a particular building. Missing records mean unknown, not zero outages.
PJM service area and capacity
PJM covers all or parts of 13 states and D.C. State membership alone does not confirm a site in a split state. Program revenue requires eligibility and an agreement.
Reporting year and refresh date
A file fetched recently can describe an earlier year. The dataset catalog reports loaded records and fetch dates; the reporting year shown beside a figure describes the underlying observation. Neither means live telemetry.

Your outline records the priorities and project information you provide. You can compare modeled battery sizes after choosing a building type, floor area, and schedule. The results are comparison points, not an equipment specification, savings promise, or financing approval. We need bills and a site review to prepare a proposal.
The grid page also shows modeled business estimates. Those estimates use building assumptions and candidate tariffs, not measured electricity use. The planner uses public building records and the details you provide.
Building demand estimates
The planner uses ComStock profiles through Mainstay's Grid API. The loaded library has 180 profiles for 12 building types in NJ, PA, MD, DE, MA, and CT. It uses the 2025 release and 2018 weather. We show an estimate only when the state, building type, and size group match.
Eight simulations produce the demand and peak-reduction ranges. The curve orders one representative simulation from highest to lowest demand. It is not a daily load profile. The comparison sizes follow the matched building group's typical peak. They are not recommendations. Manufacturing and cold-storage loads need a separate assessment.
The comparison measures peak reduction without a dedicated backup reserve. It does not model the equipment in your notes or calculate savings. If you select a battery, the comparison is included in your project request.
