Information you give us

The proposal form asks for your name and email address. The planner also collects the priorities, equipment, operating schedule, building details, ownership preference, and notes you choose to provide. You may also give us a business name, phone number, and operating assumptions. If you send a utility bill as a PDF or image, uploads are limited to 4 MB.

If you use the address tool before sending the form, the selected address is included with the inquiry. If you request a battery comparison, the building type, floor area, schedule, utility name, and selected comparison are also included. We use this information to respond to your request and prepare a proposal.

If you request a battery comparison, we send the building type, state, floor area, selected operating schedule, and utility name to Mainstay's Grid API. The calculation does not receive your name, email, or street address. The selected comparison is included when you send your project request.

What happens to an uploaded bill

The website sends your form submission and any attached bill to Mainstay by email through Resend. This app does not store the submission or bill in a database. Mainstay uses the bill to prepare a proposal and uses the other details to respond to your request.

Address and location tools

The site calls outside services for specific parts of the address report:

• Google Places receives the text you type into address search when a Google Maps key is configured. For searches that may name a business, Photon by Komoot may receive the same text so the site can include business-name matches. If Google is not configured, Photon receives the typed search instead. These services return possible places and coordinates. Google handles this information under its Privacy Policy, and Komoot describes its practices in its Privacy Policy.
• The FCC census area service at geo.fcc.gov receives coordinates so the site can identify a county. This happens after you select an address and when the grid explorer resolves the approximate coordinates returned by GeoJS.
• For a building lookup, the Mainstay Grid service receives the selected coordinates and state to identify public utility, tariff, and PJM records. A requested battery comparison also sends building type, floor area, schedule, and utility name to that service. Public OpenStreetMap query services may receive the coordinates to look for a nearby building polygon.
• On the grid explorer, GeoJS at get.geojs.io receives a request when that page loads. It uses the request's IP address to return an approximate location so the site can show a local outage example. The approximate location is not stored by this app.

These providers may receive ordinary technical request information, including an IP address, under their own privacy practices.

Your outline and address links

Planning answers stay in the current browser page unless you request a battery comparison or send a project request. Comparison inputs and results may be cached by the website service for up to 30 minutes. Reloading the page clears those answers. The selected address is encoded in the page URL, so it can appear in browser history and in a link you share. Do not share that link if you do not want to disclose the location. We remove query parameters from analytics page URLs. Copy and print actions run in your browser.

Public map data

Map and outage data are static public files served from this site under /atlas and /night. The files are based on EIA, DOE, and other federal grid records. Loading these files does not send your address to those agencies through this app.

Other service providers

Resend processes the contact email and attachment so it can deliver them to Mainstay. The company that hosts this website may process basic request data needed to serve and protect the site. Its platform may set its own cookies.

This site uses Vercel Analytics to count visits and measure how many people check an address or send a bill. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect your name, address, or bill. We do not use advertising tools and we do not sell personal information.

How long we keep information

Inquiry emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed to prepare an estimate, follow up with you, and meet legal or security obligations.

Your choices

You can ask what information we have about you or ask us to delete it by emailing hello@mainstay.energy. We will take reasonable steps to honor the request for records we control, subject to any information we must keep for legal or security reasons.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we receive. No website, email system, or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not upload a bill if you are not comfortable sending it by email.
