It stores electricity for later use. Depending on your tariff and load, it can reduce peak grid demand or shift when you buy electricity. A system designed for backup can also support selected equipment during an outage.

That depends on the equipment, load and duration. We start with what needs to keep running. Backup requires suitable transfer and protection equipment, and may cover selected circuits rather than the whole building.

You can buy the equipment or use financing. Your written proposal sets payment terms, eligibility, operating responsibilities, and any performance commitments.

Our initial focus is the PJM region, which covers all or parts of 13 states and Washington, D.C. Service territory matters more than state boundaries. You can enter an address anywhere in the U.S.; contact us about projects outside PJM or locations we cannot yet verify.

Start with an address and your priorities. You can prepare a system outline without a bill. For a proposal, electricity bills, interval readings, electrical service details, and a site review establish the equipment and economics.

We need your actual tariff and electricity use to answer that. Nearby plants, statewide prices and a modeled building profile cannot establish site savings. A proposal explains the assumptions, costs and expected benefit for your project.

Tell us what is installed and what you plan to add. Compatibility, controls and electrical design need to be checked together. We do not assume existing equipment can connect without changes.

Mainstay arranges operation and maintenance as part of the project. Your proposal names the responsible parties, service scope and costs. The operating plan defines your backup reserve and when the battery can charge or discharge.

Some sites can participate in demand response or other grid programs. Eligibility, payments and dispatch obligations depend on the program and agreement. We do not count uncontracted grid revenue as guaranteed project income.

Yes. Start with one address and describe the wider project in your request. For a large site or several buildings, we review the electrical requirements and commercial terms with you.

Address matches and public building records can be incomplete or refer to a neighboring structure. We identify the source and ask you to confirm details. Building area is an estimate until you verify it; it is not a measurement of electricity use.

Your contact details and system outline are sent to Mainstay by email. We use them to discuss the project and the information needed next. The website does not approve financing or place an equipment order.
